Changes to the 2022 Audi Models
For the 2022 model year, Audi has significantly expanded its electric vehicle (EV) offerings while at the same time introducing an all-new bread-and-butter A3 model with a gasoline-fueled drivetrain. In a shot across Tesla's bow, Audi says it expects to have more battery-electric vehicles on sale in the United States than any other luxury-brand manufacturer by the end of calendar year 2021. This means multiple new 2022 E-tron models, including the 2022 Audi E-tron GT, RS E-tron GT, Q4 E-tron, and Q4 E-Tron Sportback.
The additional new models are part of Audi's commitment to achieving net carbon dioxide neutrality by 2050. While that date seems distant, Audi expects 30 percent of its complete model lineup to be electrified by 2025. The brand includes both pure battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in its "electrified" total, by the way.
That said, the most critical models Audi has introduced for the 2022 model year are the all-new versions of the Audi A3 and Audi S3 small luxury sedans. In a bow to electrification, the A3 features a 48-volt electrical system and mild-hybrid powertrain for the first time.
