Top-Rated 2020 Sedans in Quality According to Consumers

Christian Wardlaw | Jun 24, 2020

Sedans might be down in terms of sales, but they are not out. Less expensive, more efficient, and better performing than a typical SUV, by comparison a traditional sedan lacks only ground clearance and the ability to stack cargo to the roof of the vehicle rather than the top of the trunk lid. If you can live without those characteristics, a sedan might be exactly right for you.

If you want a high-quality sedan, especially as judged by the consumers who own them, J.D. Power can help. This list contains the mainstream-brand sedans that rate highest in terms of quality according to consumers, and as published in the annual J.D. Power 2020 Initial Quality Study (IQS).

J.D. Power surveys thousands of verified owners of new vehicles in order to find out what went right and what went wrong during the first 90 days of ownership. This data is analyzed, summarized, and published in the annual IQS, and each vehicle that meets a minimum standard in terms of survey responses is assigned a PP100 score (problems per 100 vehicles). The lower the PP100 score, the higher the quality.

This list includes all sedans that consumers say rate the best when it comes to quality. They are listed in descending order by PP100 score, which means you’ll find the highest-rated model listed at the last.
