Quality and luxury are presumed to go hand-in-hand. That’s typically true when it comes to engineering and interior materials, but due to their added complexity, there is also a greater chance for something to go wrong with a luxury vehicle.

Based on consumer input, J.D. Power seeks to discover which makes and models offer the highest quality. The company surveys thousands of verified owners of new vehicles, asks consumers what has gone right and what has gone wrong during the first 90 days of ownership, and then publishes benchmark automotive industry studies sharing what consumers have to say about their vehicles.

As a part of this process, J.D. Power assigns all vehicles meeting a minimum standard in terms of survey responses a PP100 score (problems per 100 vehicles). The lower this score, the higher the vehicle’s quality.
