2024 Acura Integra Type S Preview
Acura revived the Integra name earlier this year after a two-decade break. Shockingly, it's one of the few new models on sale with few, if any, markups or significant shortages. However, it was only a matter of time before the automaker turned up the heat on the new car, and we're now finding out by how much.
The 2024 Acura Integra Type S will come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 300 horsepower and sends it to the front wheels through a 6-speed manual transmission. If those numbers sound familiar, it's because the car will share its powertrain with the Honda Civic Type R, which arrived as a brand-new model this year.
Acura shared teaser images of the new Type S to accompany its release. It appears the brand has taken a subtle approach to the car's styling, as Honda did with the new Type R. Whereas you could see the last Honda Civic Type R coming from a mile away, with outlandish scoops and a giant rear wing, both the 2023 Civic Type R and upcoming 2024 Integra Type S take a much less shouty approach. The wheels, badges, and exhaust on the Type S are the most apparent giveaways that we're looking at something special.
The automaker has yet to specify the exact Acura Integra Type S release date but says it will arrive in the summer of 2023. Pricing details are also nonexistent, but we can take some cues from the Honda Civic and Civic Type R's price differential. The Type R is about $18,000 more expensive than the regular Civic; the same spread would yield an Integra Type S starting price of $49,000 or so. Of course, dealer pricing is where things have fallen apart in recent months, so the final selling prices could be much higher.
Acura and the author's speculation are the sources of information in this article. It was accurate as of December 5, 2022, but it may have changed since that date. Always confirm product details and availability with the automaker's website or your local dealership.
