Ripe for a major redesign, the 2021 Nissan Armada instead gets a minor refresh. As such, yesterday’s Armada is updated for today’s full-size 8-passenger SUV buyers.

The new 2021 Armada comes in SV, SL, and Platinum trim levels until later in the year, when a more affordable Armada S trim joins the lineup. They all have the same V-8 engine as before, use the same rugged body-on-frame construction, and continue to offer standard rear-wheel or optional automatic four-wheel drive.
Though the 2021 Nissan Armada is essentially the same SUV it was before, the styling is different. Everything forward of the windshield is new, the 2021 Armada adopting the latest styling cues for Nissan’s SUVs. New LED headlights illuminate the way forward.

Around back, the bumper, liftgate, and LED taillights are new, and the Armada is the first of Nissan’s models to wear the company’s new logo. Aluminum wheels are sized up to 22 inches in diameter.
A new Midnight Edition Package is available for the Armada SL, giving the SUV a trendy blacked-out look.
Nissan gives the Armada a much needed technology upgrade, and that necessitates a redesigned dashboard. From top to bottom, the center control panel is all new, housing a high-resolution 12.3-inch infotainment display complete with big, beautiful stereo volume and tuning knobs.

Additionally, the 2021 Armada gets a new high-resolution 7-inch driver information display nestled between its gauges, and a redesigned center console for improved storage and easier access by occupants of both the front and second-row seats. To make the cabin quieter, acoustic windshield and front window glass is standard.
The Armada SV trim includes new simulated leather Prima-Tex seat upholstery. The real thing is standard in the Armada SL, while the Armada Platinum get plush, quilted and stitched cow hides.
The 2021 Nissan Armada employs the same 5.6-liter V-8 that it has used for years. It makes 400 horsepower and 413 lb.-ft. of torque, and it drives the rear or all four wheels through a 7-speed automatic transmission. It is not a particularly efficient powerplant.
Towing capacity measures 8,500 pounds, and for 2021, Nissan equips the Armada so that you can actually use it. A tow hitch receiver and integrated trailer brake controller are standard, and a trailer sway control system comes with SL and Platinum trim.
Every 2021 Armada is equipped with Nissan Safety Shield 360, a collection of genuinely useful advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS). Additionally, the SUV has a driver monitoring system, a rear-seat reminder system, and adaptive cruise control. Options include a surround-view camera, a traffic sign recognition system, Intelligent Backup Collision Intervention, and more.
The Armada’s new 12.3-inch infotainment system includes standard Wi-Fi access, wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, navigation with door-to-door directions, and NissanConnect Services with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant compatibility, as well as apps for your smartphone and smartwatch.
Upgrades include wireless smartphone charging, Nissan Concierge services, and a 13-speaker Bose premium sound system. A rear-seat entertainment system is also available, complete with dual 8-inch monitors embedded into the head restraints, a new HDMI input, and two sets of wireless headphones.
A new high-resolution rear camera mirror debuts in the Armada Platinum for 2021.
