  • Coupe and convertible body styles
  • Base, Touring, and Nismo trim levels available
  • EPA-estimated to achieve up to 26 mpg on the highway
  • 2-passenger seating
  • Rear-wheel drive (RWD)

The 2013 Nissan 370Z maintains the model's iconic status, changing little from the 2012 version. Available in 2-door coupe and roadster (convertible) body styles, the Z arrives with minor styling updates, LED daytime running lights, new alloy wheel offerings, revised Sport package that includes red brake calipers and retuned shocks, and new Magma Red and Midnight Blue exterior paint colors.

Exterior Features

Compared to the 2012 model, the 2013 Nissan 370Z sports a subtly different look, with a reshaped front air dam, LED lights on the outer edges of the front bumper, and a small reflector positioned between the dual exhaust tips. In addition to that, base and Touring models feature 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic HID headlights, LED taillights, and heated power-adjustable outside mirrors. The roadster swaps out the coupe's roof for a power soft top with a rear glass window and wind deflector.

Available only in hardtop coupe form, as with the 2012 model, the 2013 370Z Nismo continues to offer unique styling, which is highlighted by a lower body kit, rear spoiler, and 19-inch alloy wheels.

Interior Features

Amenities found inside the base 2013 Nissan 370Z coupe include automatic climate control, electroluminescent gauges, push-button start, and a leather-wrapped tilt steering wheel with integrated audio controls. Cloth upholstery covers dual bucket seats with 8-way adjustment for the driver and 4-way adjustment for the passenger, while music is provided by a 4-speaker sound system featuring an auxiliary input jack. Base roadster models add an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a universal garage door opener.

Several items serve to distinguish the mid-level 370Z Touring from its entry-level counterpart. Among them are Bluetooth connectivity, heated power seats clad in leather upholstery with suede inserts, aluminum pedals, and an 8-speaker Bose sound system offering satellite radio service and a 6-disc CD changer. The roadster's roster of equipment differs slightly with the addition of heated and cooled seats.

That leaves the 370Z Nismo, a true enthusiast-minded model fitted with a unique tachometer, embroidered seats, upgraded leather trim with red stitching, and a plaque of authenticity.

Optional Features

Buyers of the 2013 370Z have their choice of three factory options, one of which is a Sport package available on Touring models, as well as the base coupe. Content includes retuned shocks and more capable brakes, 19-inch alloy wheels, front and rear spoilers, limited-slip differential, and a downshift rev-matching feature.

A Navigation package is offered for the 370Z Touring coupe and roadster, and includes a 7-inch touch screen, real-time traffic and weather information, rearview camera, auxiliary video input jacks, and Bluetooth streaming audio.

Nissan wraps up the option trio with a Bose package for the Nismo version, within which are an 8-speaker sound system, satellite radio service, Bluetooth connectivity, auto-dimming rearview mirror, and universal garage door opener.

Under the Hood

Nissan equips the 2013 370Z base and Touring models with a 3.7-liter V-6 engine that delivers 332 horsepower and 270 lb.-ft. of torque, all of which is directed to the rear wheels via a carbon-fiber composite driveshaft. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual that can be upgraded with rev-matching technology, or a 7-speed automatic with a sport mode and paddle shifters.

The 2013 Nissan 370Z Nismo uses the same V-6 engine, though it's paired with a sport-tuned exhaust. Together, they generate 350 horsepower and 276 lb.-ft. of torque.

All 2013 370Z models utilize an aluminum 2-link double-wishbone front suspension, 4-link rear suspension, front strut tower brace, and stabilizer bars. For the Nismo, these components have been tuned for more aggressive driving, according to Nissan, and an underbody brace has been added to enhance structural rigidity, the company says.

Fuel Economy

EPA fuel-economy estimates for the 2013 Nissan 370Z are:

  • 370Z coupe with 6-speed manual transmission: 18/26/21 mpg (city/highway/combined)
  • 370Z coupe with 7-speed automatic transmission: 19/26/22 mpg
  • 370Z roadster with 6-speed manual transmission: 17/24/20 mpg
  • 370Z roadster with 7-speed automatic transmission: 18/25/21 mpg

The 2013 Nissan 370Z's standard safety features include 6 air bags, traction control, active head restraints, 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, electronic brake-force distribution, and brake assist. Nismo models are upgraded with larger disc brakes and lightweight aluminum calipers; 370Z Nismo and Touring trims also add strengthened brake hoses and brake fluid specifically engineered to withstand higher temperatures.

As this preview is written, neither the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) nor the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has rated the crashworthiness of the 2013 Nissan 370Z.
