  • Revised styling
  • Standard Bluetooth streaming audio and HD radio
  • Standard CUE technology
  • Broader array of available safety features

A luxury crossover SUV, the 2013 Cadillac SRX is a 5-passenger vehicle designed to compete against the BMW X3, Lexus RX, and Mercedes-Benz GLK. It receives several updates this year.

Exterior Features

The Cadillac SRX receives a new grille, revised side vent trim, redesigned 20-inch wheel options, and vertical LED light pipes in its taillights for 2013. New colors include Glacier Blue, Silver Coast, and Evolution Green.

Interior Features

If the 2013 SRX looks almost identical to the 2012 model on the outside, interior changes are more noticeable thanks to a new steering wheel, new gauge cluster, and a new shifter. A Light Titanium over Raven Sapele wood décor scheme is also new for 2013, and standard Active Noise Cancellation technology aims to quiet the cabin.

Optional Feat

A number of extra-cost features can be added to the 2013 Cadillac SRX, depending on the "collection," or trim level, selected. Highlights include leather, power panoramic sunroof, Bose 5.1 surround sound system, navigation system, rear-seat entertainment system, adaptive forward lighting, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and triple-zone automatic climate control.

Under the Hood

The 2013 Cadillac SRX is equipped with a direct-injected, 3.6-liter V-6 engine making 308 horsepower. Power flows to the front wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is optional.

Fuel Economy

Fuel economy estimates for the 2013 SRX are not final as this preview is published. Given that the engine and transmission are identical to the 2012 model, the 2013 SRX should receive the following ratings:
  • SRX with front-wheel drive: 17/24/19 mpg (city/hwy/combined)
  • SRX with all-wheel drive: 16/23/18 mpg

In addition to standard OnStar with Automatic Crash Notification and features such as front and rear park assist and a rearview camera, the 2013 Cadillac SRX is available with a number of new safety technologies. They include: Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Alert, lane-departure warning, and adaptive cruise control with Automatic Front and Rear Braking. Cadillac also offers a Safety Alert Seat option, which vibrates one side of the seat cushion or the other to help make a driver aware of potential threats near the SRX.

New Cadillac User Experience (CUE) technology is standard, too, integrating up to 10 devices paired to the SRX's information and entertainment system via Bluetooth, USB port, SD card slot, or MP3 player connection. Cadillac says CUE is modeled after popular smartphone and tablet interfaces, as so its 8-inch touch screen features bright colors, proximity sensing and haptic feedback, and the ability for the user to "swipe," "spread," or "pinch" content on the screen using his or her fingers.
