Introduction

Ford and motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson have been working together, creating custom versions of F-Series trucks, since2000. In fact, Ford product planners make sure to attend annual Bike Week events and talk to Harley-Davidson owners about the trucks, learning what they like, what they don't like, and what they think is nice to have. This new 2010 Ford Harley-Davidson F-150 is the 14th in a continuing series, and the first to be based upon the recently redesigned F-150 SuperCrew.Based on the time Ford says it has spent with Harley owners, it ought be the best of the bunch.

Design

Ford says the 2010 Harley-Davidson F-150 "delivers a new standard of custom cool." It is based on the F-150 SuperCrew, with a redesigned front fascia and a six-bar billet-style grille setting it apart from other big Ford pickups. Painted Tuxedo Black over Lava, a deep maroon embedded with a three-color metal flake effect, the Harley-Davidson F-150 rides on 22-inch Euroflange forged aluminum wheels wearing performance tires.

Inside the two-tone interior, leather rules. Even the front seatbacks are covered in ribbed leather, decorated with engraved Harley-Davidson button snaps and featuring zippered pockets employing actual zippers from actual Harley motorcycle jackets. In fact, Ford used actual materials from actual Harley-Davidson MotorClothes inside the cabin, and the seat design was inspired by Harley biker jackets. Furthermore, this custom F-150 contains hand-made cloisonne badges and a limited-edition, serialized ID plate.

Hardware

The 2010 Ford Harley-Davidson F-150 starts looking more like a normal F-Series truck once the hood is popped. Tucked underneath the fancy paint job is Ford's tried-and-true 3-valve, 5.4-liter V-8 engine making 320 hp and 390 lb.-ft. of torque. It's connected to a 6-speed automatic transmission, which delivers power to the rear or all four wheels. Top speed, according to Ford, is 115 mph and the truck is equipped with a sport exhaust system. It remains to be seen if it blats loud enough to crack glass.
