2009 GMC Acadia

The 2009 Acadia is a carryover model from 2008, when it was all new. Updates for 2009 are minimal, but include: OnStar 8.0, Bluetooth phone connectivity, XM satellite radio with NavTraffic, rearview camera system, heated/cooled seats and two new exterior colors: Quicksilver Metallic and Silver-Green Metallic (replacing Liquid Silver Metallic and Blue-Gold Crystal Metallic).

2009 GMC Canyon

For 2009, the GMC Canyon pickup adds performance enhancements, including a new 5.3-liter V-8 engine option, new brake system, new family of larger wheels and tires and extensive exterior trim revisions. New for 2009 is the availability of a 300-hp, 5.3-liter, small-block V-8 engine. Two new exterior colors are added: Navy Blue and Aqua Blue Metallic.

2009 GMC Envoy

For 2009, the GMC Envoy and Envoy Denali are mostly carryover, but do add new Bluetooth wireless capability for hands-free phone calls. Bluetooth is available with the OnStar 8.0 system. Also new are three exterior colors: Sand Beige Metallic, Quicksilver Metallic and Silver-Green Metallic (replacing Medium Brown, Liquid Silver and Silver Mist Metallics).

2009 GMC Savana

The Savana full-size van for 2009 is again available in quarter-ton, half-ton and one-ton weight classes, in regular and extended wheelbase lengths, and can accommodate eight, 12 or 15 people. Updates for 2009 include new 17-inch wheels and new tires.

2009 GMC Sierra 1500

For 2009, the GMC Sierra 1500 and Sierra Denali full-size pickups add a new 6-speed automatic transmission and new features, including: 6.2-liter V-8 engine available on SLT crew cab models; new 18- and 20-inch chrome-clad wheels; new exterior colors; OnStar 8.0; Bluetooth phone connectivity; XM satellite radio with NavTraffic; rearview camera system; and heated/cooled seats. Other changes include an integrated trailer brake controller, standard electronic stability control (all models except with 4.3-liter V-6 engine), and the SLE1 trim becomes SLE (SLE2 trim discontinued). New colors include Midnight Blue Metallic and Carbon Black Metallic (Sierra 1500) and Steel Gray Metallic and Sonoma Red Metallic (Sierra Denali). Sierra Denali also has new heated/cooled seats with perforated leather.

Introduced at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show, the 2009 GMC Sierra 2-Mode Hybrid (like the previously announced ), uses the new GM 2-mode hybrid system. The innovative system pairs a 6.0-liter V-8 engine with electronic variable transmission (EVT) and Active Fuel Management mated with a 300-volt electrical system. The GMC Sierra 2-Mode Hybrid can travel on electric power (up to 30 mph), or on gasoline, or any combination of the two and also features regenerative braking. It achieves up to 40-percent greater city fuel economy. The towing capacity is 6100 pounds, with 1400-pound cargo payload.

The GMC Sierra 2-Mode Hybrid is available in crew cab body style in 2WD or 4WD, and has standard electronic stability control, locking rear axle and a trailering package. The deeper front air dam and tonneau cover help reduce air drag, GMC says. There's also a new instrument panel cluster, and the battery pack is located near the rear seat. Special Hybrid 2-Mode badging appears on the exterior. The Sierra Hybrid also has dual-stage frontal air bags and head curtain side air bags.

2009 GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD

For 2009, expect carryover editions of the GMC Sierra 2500HD (three-quarter-ton) and 3500HD (one-ton) pickups. These workhorse models are again available in Work Truck, SLE and SLT trims with three cab styles, three cargo box styles and five wheelbase lengths. New for 2009: OnStar 8.0, Bluetooth connectivity for phone, XM satellite radio with NavTraffic, rearview camera system, and new exterior colors: Carbon Black Metallic and Midnight Blue Metallic (replacing Medium Brown and Deep Blue Metallics, respectively).

2009 GMC Yukon/Yukon XL

For 2009, the GMC Yukon and Yukon XL, and Yukon Denali and Yukon XL Denali family of full-size SUVs add new features, colors, and undergo minor exterior revisions. Changes include: new 20-inch, chrome-clad wheels (Yukon, Yukon XL); OnStar 8.0; Bluetooth connectivity; XM satellite radio with NavTraffic; side blind-zone alert; rearview camera (Yukon, Yukon XL only); third-row DVD entertainment system (Yukon XL and Yukon XL Denali only); heated/cooled seats; integrated brake controller; heavy-duty trailering package; fuel-saving 3.08 axle ratio; more powerful, 403-hp, 6.2-liter V-8 engine with E85 FlexFuel capacity (Denali models); and new body-side molding for the Denali. There's also a new 6-speed automatic transmission paired with the 5.3-liter V-8 engine with Active Fuel Management. New exterior colors: Dark Crimson Metallic (Yukon and Yukon XL) and Carbon Black Metallic (Denali models).

Offering fuel-economy improvements up to 50 percent over non-hybrid models, the 2009 GMC Yukon Hybrid is otherwise similar to the brand's gasoline-only models. Notable differences include an aerodynamically-enhanced exterior, low-rolling-resistance tires, interior styling changes, and some functional modifications. The Yukon Hybrid uses GM's patented 2-mode hybrid system that pairs a 6.0-liter V-8 engine with Active Fuel Management and Auto Stop mode with a 2-mode electronically variable transmission (EVT), and energy storage system (ESS) with 300 volts. The Yukon Hybrid also features regenerative braking. Exterior and interior badging identifies the Yukon Hybrid.
