2009 Chevrolet Aveo/Aveo5

The 2009 Chevrolet Aveo5 sporty 5-door hatchback is redesigned inside and out, reflecting Chevy's global front-end design. The 2009 Aveo gets a more powerful 1.6-liter Gen 3 Ecotec engine standard in all models. Other Aveo lineup changes include standard OnStar, new Aveo5 spoiler, GM oil-life-monitoring system, new 15-inch alloy wheels, variable intermittent windshield wipers, enhanced driver information center and available XM satellite radio. Three new exterior colors are offered: Black Granite Metallic, Blue Moon and Tahiti Green. New Charcoal leatherette seating is also available. Aveo sedan and Aveo5 are available in LS, 1LT and 2LT trims, each with many standard features, including side-impact air bags, and numerous options. Four-channel anti-lock brakes (ABS) and engine-immobilizer theft-deterrent system are also available safety features.

2009 Chevrolet Cobalt

Chevrolet Cobalt for 2009 features fuel-economy enhancements, more convenience and safety features-including OnStar standard on all models, Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity, and an iPod-compatible USB port in the radio. The 2009 Cobalt lineup includes LS, LT and turbocharged SS models. Look for a new Cobalt SS Sedan later this year as well. Traction control and a tire-pressure monitor are standard on all 2009 Cobalt models, while electronic stability control is standard on the SS. Standard engine on LS and LT models is a 155-hp, 2.2-liter, Ecotec 4-cylinder engine with VVT (new for 2009) and Getrag 5-speed manual transmission (with 4-speed automatic optional). The SS coup_ uses a 260-hp, 2.0-liter, Ecotec turbo engine and 5-speed manual transmission. Three new exterior colors are added: Silver Ice, Gold Mist and Silver Moss.

Available later this year, the new 2009 Cobalt SS Sedan will also feature the 260-hp, turbocharged and intercooled, 2.0-liter Ecotec engine, as well as all-new FE5 Sport suspension, front Brembo brakes, electronic stability control, new front upper and lower grilles with SS-specific appearance, SS badging on body sides, deck lid spoiler, 18-inch aluminum wheels and performance tires, and SS-specific interior appointments.

2009 Chevrolet Corvette

For 2009, the Corvette adds a lower-priced convertible model (1LT convertible package), Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity, and two new custom leather-wrapped interiors. The Z06 Corvette adds new "spider"-design wheels, increased capacity for the dry-sump oiling system, and interior trim revisions. Also new for 2009 are two new exterior colors: Cyber Gray Metallic and Blade Silver Metallic. Revised crossed flags emblem, standard power hatch pull-down, standard steering wheel audio controls and variable-ratio steering are also new for 2009. Standard equipment includes electronic traction control and active handling. Standard in coup_ and convertible models is a 430-hp, 6.2-liter, small-block V-8 engine. The Z06 features a 505-hp, 7.0-liter V-8 engine. The Corvette has a standard 6-speed manual transmission or optional 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle-shift control (standard on Z06).

The 2009 Corvette ZR1 boasts an all-new, LS9, supercharged, 6.2-liter V-8 engine rated at 638 hp; an upgraded 6-speed manual transmission with dual-disc clutch technology; Brembo 4-wheel disc brakes; 20-spoke, 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels; ZR1-specific Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires; ZR1-specific design features; standard magnetic ride control (specially developed for the ZR1); unique ZR1 vehicle identification number sequences; and a top speed, according to Chevrolet, of 205 mph. The ZR1 is so complete that only two options are available: chrome wheels and a "luxury" package.

2009 Chevrolet Impala

The 2009 Impala is offered in LS, LT, LTZ and SS models. New standard safety features for the 2009 Impala are thorax side-impact air bags and safety belt pre-tensioners for the front-seat lap belts, along with 4-wheel disc brakes with ABS and traction control. Also new is available Bluetooth phone connectivity through the OnStar system; new-design, 18-inch, flangeless, polished aluminum wheels for the Impala SS; common SS-style rear spoiler for all models; revised rocker molding design; standard dual-zone manual climate control; and three new exterior colors: Silver Ice Metallic, Aqua Blue Metallic and Victory Red.

2009 Chevrolet Malibu

Changes for the midsize 2009 Chevrolet Malibu are minimal, but include an expanded offering of the fuel-saving 2.5-liter engine/6-speed automatic transmission powertrain combination; new exterior colors (Silver Ice Metallic, Summit White, Gold Mist Metallic and Silver Moss Metallic); and the addition of Bluetooth wireless connectivity with the new OnStar 8.0 system. Electronic stability control with brake assist and traction control are standard on all models, as well as XM satellite radio. Head curtain side air bags and front seat-mounted thorax protection air bags are standard across the board. An upscale interior with available two-tone trim and gauges with Chevrolet blue backlighting are other changes.

The 2009 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid features improved fuel economy over the 2008 model, with an innovative motor/generator system, efficient 2.4-liter Ecotec engine with VVT, hybrid components covered by an 8-year/100,000-mile warranty, new standard 17-inch wheels and touring tires, and five new exterior colors (Silver Ice, Summit White, Gold Mist, Golden Pewter and Silver Moss Metallics). The GM Hybrid system consists of a precision electric motor/generator unit, power electronics and nickel metal hydride (NiMH) hybrid battery pack. The system is mated to a 164-hp, 2.4-liter, Ecotec, VVT 4-cylinder engine and 4-speed automatic transmission. Standard Malibu Hybrid equipment includes air conditioning, power windows and door locks, driver information center, two auxiliary power outlets, power-adjustable driver seat, 4-wheel disc with 4-wheel ABS, OnStar with Turn-by-Turn navigation, XM satellite radio, and AM/FM radio with CD and MP3 playback.
