Engine updates and feature upgrades were the primary theme for Volkswagen heading into 2014. It started with a top-view parking camera for the Toureg, and the addition of new standard features that included a powered and foot-activated rear liftgate, remote entry/start and LED tail lamps. A new 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder debuted for the Beetle base model, while the Turbo model got 10 more horsepower. Both the 2014 Jetta and Passat got a new 1.8-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder engine as well, in addition to getting a brand new Car-Net telematics interface. Last on the list was Golf, which saw the two-door body style discontinued, along with several upper trim levels.
