Ram “Built to Serve” Trucks Continue Rollout in Honor of U.S. Military

Christian Wardlaw | Jun 11, 2020

A second wave of 2020 Ram 1500 “Built to Serve” special edition trucks has marched off the Sterling Heights, Mich. assembly line where they are made, and they’re painted Patriot Blue and Ceramic Gray. Ram built 1,000 examples of each, and they arrive in dealerships during the second half of June 2020.

“Ram wants to honor those who are serving or have served the United States with distinction,” said Reid Bigland, Head of Ram Brand, when the series of special-edition trucks was first announced. “For Ram truck owners, whether military or civilian, ‘Built to Serve’ is a maxim that they can be proud to stand behind.”

All told, Ram is building 9,000 examples of the Built to Serve Edition trucks for the model year, each painted a color that represents a branch of the U.S. military. Half of the colors are special, low-volume hues that are not a part of the standard Ram 1500 paint color chart.

The first batch offered Gator or Diamond Black colors and arrived in time for Veteran’s Day. The latest round features Ceramic Gray or Patriot Blue combined with the special exterior and interior detailing Ram applies to each Built to Serve Edition. Upcoming versions will have Anvil or Billet Silver, Tank or Flame Red, and Spitfire or Bright White paint.

Ram is building 1,000 examples of each Built to Serve special edition, except for the Spitfire and Bright White versions, which are limited to 500 each.

In addition to U.S. flag decals on the cargo boxes, the Ram Built to Serve Editions ride on 20-inch aluminum wheels in a Technical Gray finish, have body color wheel well flares, and feature a blacked-out grille and trim.

Inside, contrast stitching in one of five colors is coordinated to the military branch honored by the truck. Cloth and vinyl upholstery, rubber slush mats, a locking center console storage bin, and dark chrome accents are also unique to this truck. Small Velcro interior panels allow owners to display military or service patches of their choosing.

Every Ram Built to Serve Edition also comes with a standard 4x4 Off-Road Group package, and this special truck is available in a variety of body styles and with every Ram 1500 powertrain.
