Changes to 2021 Jaguar I-Pace Charging Time Headline List of New Upgrades

Liz Kim | Jun 23, 2020

Jaguar has announced a handful of important changes to the 2021 I-Pace electric SUV. Chief among them is a newly standard 11-kilowatt (kW), 3-phase onboard charger, an improvement over the previous 7-kW, 2-phase unit. This upgrade shaves more than four hours off of the EV SUV’s overnight home charging time.

Thanks to the new on-board charger, when you plug the 2021 Jaguar I-Pace into an 11-kW home charging station (48-amp, 240-volt), a full charge takes 8.6 hours as the battery soaks up 33 miles of driving range per hour. Previously, the I-Pace required 12.75 hours, or 22 miles of range per hour, to fully recharge.

If you’re away from home and need to use a public charging station, the 2021 I-Pace adds 39 miles of range in about 15 minutes when using a 50-kW DC Fast Charger. Plug the vehicle into a 100-kW charger, and that increases to 78 miles of range in 15 minutes.

Estimated driving range remains unchanged at 234 miles, and the I-Pace continues to produce 392 horsepower, which accelerates the EV SUV to 60 mph in about 4.5 seconds.

Jaguar Land Rover’s new Pivi Pro infotainment system comes standard in the 2021 I-Pace, replacing the Touch Pro Duo system. Jaguar says the Pivi Pro system features faster response times, an improved user experience, and navigation enhancements that display the nearest charging station, availability, cost, and estimated charging times.

With Pivi Pro, all software updates happen online and automatically, thanks to a free 4G data plan. The new 2021 I-Pace also provides access to Spotify and other apps, as well as Wi-Fi hotspot access for up to eight devices and the use of 20 GB of data per month. You can also connect two mobile devices to the system’s Bluetooth, and a new wireless device charger with digital signal boosting is available.

Jaguar also debuts a new 3D surround-view camera system for the I-Pace. It provides a 360-degree view of what’s around the vehicle so you can avoid damaging the sheetmetal. A ClearSight rearview mirror supplies an unobstructed digital image of what’s behind the SUV, just in case rear passengers or a full cargo area impedes the view. And a new cabin filtration system keeps smaller germs of 2.5 microns at bay.

Exterior changes are limited to new colors and wheel choices, along with some revised grille and window-surround trim. Also, the base S trim level now comes with larger 19-inch aluminum wheels.

The 2021 Jaguar I-Pace is built in Austria and will be available in U.S. dealerships later this year.
