J.D. Power publishes the U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) on an annual basis. The study summarizes what original owners of 3-year-old vehicles tell the company has gone right and wrong with their cars, trucks, SUVs, and minivans. Owners are asked to report all design- and defect-related problems they experienced during the previous 12 months. This information serves as the basis for Power Circle Ratings that reflect a vehicle’s dependability. An easily understood visual representation of how a model performs in comparison to others in a particular vehicle segment, these Power Circle Ratings help consumers make an informed decision about purchasing a vehicle.
