The SUVs of Honda and Toyota are constantly pitted against each other, and with good reason. The manufacturers’ compact SUVs are similar in price, space, and features, so it can be a tough call for drivers to decide on their best option for a family vehicle. The 2018 Honda CRV and Toyota RAV4 have the most in common with each other since they’re both in the same class of compact SUVs. They’re small in stature for a utility vehicle, but they still have surprisingly roomy interiors. Where the CRV stands out, though, is its better fuel range over the RAV4, despite its slightly larger cargo area and passenger space, and its higher-quality interior. The RAV4 won’t make you feel like you’re missing out, though, with its range of interior features, like a rearview camera and Toyota PreSense, plus tons of add-ons like navigation and a surround-view camera. The 2018 Toyota Highlander is a bit of an oddball compared to the other two because it offers third-row seating for larger families. Of course, its size helps drop the fuel efficiency well below the compact SUVs, especially on the highway, but its larger fuel tank somewhat makes up for it.
