The GMC Acadia and Ford Explorer are both stylish SUVs with plenty of room, safety, and technology for the family, but the 2019 Explorer has an edge on performance over the 2019 Acadia. While the Acadia gets just one engine option – a 3.6-liter V6 – the Explorer has a three-engine range, two of which provide the vehicle with more torque than the Acadia’s. As a result, the Explorer has a zippier acceleration and passing speed. Ford also graced the explorer with a wider track and higher ground clearance than the Acadia, which gives it a bit more stability and off-roading capability The Acadia features ample standard equipment in its base model, like heated door mirrors, stability control, Sirius XM radio, and two 12-volt power outlets. It also receives a higher fuel mileage rating than the Explorer, boasting 21 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. The Explorer pulls ahead in convenience, though, especially with its PowerFold Seating that allows the third row to fold into the floor with the touch of a button, saving space and making room for large cargo loads. 2019 Explorers can also include the FordPass system for drivers to receive information about their vehicle, and even unlock it, using their smartphone.
