2019 Mazda Ratings, Reviews and Awards

Mazda’s 2019 lineup reiterates their reputation for quality and beauty. The Miata MX-5 will have 181 hp, a 26 hp increase over prior years’ models. It will also have a 7500 rpm redline, lighter engine pistons for more responsiveness, and an optimized crankshaft which improves the vehicle’s overall efficiency. With 28% more air flowing to the 2.0L SkyActiv-G engine, the performance improvements are palpable. The Mazda3 will also get an upgrade for 2019 to feature a SkyActiv 2.0L engine which should improve torque by up to 30% and improve the fuel economy immensely, though the exact statistics remain elusive. The Mazda3’s biggest change is the compressed fuel system with superior controlled ignition factors. This allows the Mazda3 to experience diesel-like performance and minimal NOx production for improved fuel consumption and also improved environmental emissions. While the Mazda3 still lacks a supercharger, it does have a supercharger-like functionality which adds a new sound to the engine and also improved performance.
