The standard 160 horsepower 1.5-liter engine on the 2018 Impala L, LS, and LT trims comes with a six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. The Premium trim features a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 250 horsepower and 260lb-ft of torque. The 2.0-liter engine is paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and doesn’t give up fuel economy for its horsepower. The Premier trim level has been upgraded to include a 15.8-gallon gas tank. The Malibu earned an overall safety rating of 5-stars. Safety features include side-curtain airbags, forward-collision warning, lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert and blind spot monitoring. Infotainment is on the forefront of the 2018 Malibu, with standard Bluetooth, 6-speaker stereo system, keyless entry and push-button ignition. Starting with the LS package, a 7-inch touchscreen along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is included standard. The Malibu is backed by a 36-month or 36,000-mile warranty.
