The 2018 Audi A3 Sportback e-tron is proof that an electric engine has both low-end torque and high-end power. The liquid-cooled, permanent-magnet-driven electric motor generates 102 hp of electric power with near instantaneous torque and a power rating of 75 kW. An included 240-volt unit recharges the battery in two hours and 15 minutes. Additional power is supplied as needed by the 1.4-liter turbocharged TFSI® engine.
