2017 Volkswagen Passat ratings and reviews

Coming off a major reboot in 2016, the 2017 Volkswagen Passat offers only a few minor updates for the new year. The biggest change might be the addition of Autonomous Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Warning systems to the base-level Passat 1.8T S. Other standard features on the base model include auto headlights, dual-zone climate control, five-inch display infotainment system, rearview camera, and a 60/40 split folding rear seat. The 2017 Passat might be a European sedan, but it's made in Tennessee and understands the needs and preferences of American drivers. Higher level trims include a blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and a moonroof. Diesel engine options are gone, leaving a 1.8-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine with 170 horsepower or a 3.6-liter V6 engine with 280 horsepower. The V6 engine is available on SE models and higher. Both engine options include an automatic transmission.
