2016 Toyota Ratings, Reviews and Awards

For 2016, Toyota showed a renewed dedication to the hybrid. It relaunched the Prius, introducing the fourth generation of the genre-defining hybrid vehicle. Everything about the 2016 Prius is new, except for the name. Most notably, it has an updated 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle 4-cylinder engine and a new permanent magnet AC electric motor. The new engine and motor translate to a loss of 13 horsepower, but a gain in fuel efficiency. 2016 Prius models get 54 mpg/city while 2016 Prius Eco models get 58 mpg/city. Toyota isn't stopping with the Prius when it comes to hybrid options. The carmaker also introduced a hybrid version of its popular RAV4 compact SUV. The RAV4 hybrid has a 2.5-liter inline-4 engine and electric motor. Not nearly as fuel efficient as the Prius, it gets 34 mpg/city.
