For 2016, BMW decided to introduce a plug-in hybrid model to its X5 lineup. The 2016 BMW X5 eDrive has a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four-cylinder engine with an electric motor. Together, the motor and engine have 308 horsepower and get up to 56 mpge in an electric mode or 24 mpg when powered by the gasoline engine. The eDrive can go from zero to 60 in about 6.5 seconds. All-wheel-drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission are standard. Standard features on the X5 eDrive include a moonroof, heated front seats, navigation system with a 10.2-inch screen, power-adjustable steering column and nine-speaker audio system. Four years or 50,000 miles of complimentary maintenance comes with the eDrive. Multiple packages are available for the eDrive, including a Luxury, xLine, and M Sport package.
