2006 Lincoln Ratings, Reviews and Awards

Lincoln’s revamping of its image to compete with a younger generation of luxury buyers continues in 2006 with a few additions and a cautious retry at Escalade competition. The most significant change is the exit of the Aviator in anticipation of a brand-new crossover for 2007, but Lincoln also limits the LS option ahead of its phase-out in favor of the all-new Zephyr. The Zephyr is Lincoln’s first front wheel drive since the discontinuation of the beloved Continental, and the Zephyr is expected to step into that niche for Lincoln in the coming years. After a disastrous try at a truck, Lincoln quietly releases the Mark Lt, a four-door pickup with more traditional styling than the poor selling Blackwood. It features an extended cab and a conventional truck bed with a V8 engine. The Navigator and the ultra-classic Town Car receive no significant changes for 2006.
