2002 Ford Ratings, Reviews and Awards

Ford didn’t make any significant tweaks to its lineup for 2002, but several models did receive a few shifts to packages and trims, while the popular Explorer received an all-new redesign making it as close to a new model for Ford as you can get. Added to the Explorer was an independent rear suspension system, higher ground clearance, more cargo space, a lower step height, and larger door openings, all to improve ride quality and convenience. Ford didn’t leave hardly any of its other vehicles out of the loop of changes this year, gifting the Escort with more standard equipment in its trims, and the Escape with a Sport package that includes privacy glass, larger tires, and 15-inch wheels. The Excursion standard intermittent wipers and optional power-adjustable pedals, while passengers in the Expedition could now benefit from an optional rear-seat entertainment system available for the XLT trim.
