2000 Chevrolet Ratings, Reviews and Awards

The beginning of 2000 saw the hotly awaited re-release of Chevrolet’s flagship car, the Impala, which had been out of production since 1996. The Impala replaced the Lumina as Chevrolet’s high-end sedan model, effectively forcing the Lumina out of production by 2001. The Impala boasts a superior performance as compared to the Lumina thanks to a choice between a 180-hp, 3.4-liter V6 engine and an even more powerful 200-hp, 3.8-liter V6 engine. The Monte Carlo was also redesigned, bringing back classic aesthetic features for the sixth generation of the model. In the realm of trucks, the 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe and the 2000 Suburban adopted the new GMT800 platform, which utilizes a solid three-section frame system that can be mixed and matched to fit different vehicle sizes. The Chevrolet Venture, a heavy-duty minivan, also saw upgrades in 2000 that include a sliding driver’s side door and a Versatrak all-wheel drive system.
