Established in 1968, J.D. Power and Associates is a global marketing information company that conducts independent and unbiased surveys of customer satisfaction, product quality and buyer behavior. The company’s services include industry-wide syndicated studies; proprietary tracking studies; media studies; forecasting; and training services; business operations analyses; and consulting on customer satisfaction trends. On April 1, 2005, J.D. Power and Associates became a business unit of the McGraw-Hill Companies.
J.D. Power and Associates is best known for its work in the automotive industry but has a significant presence in many others. In recent years, the company has expanded to serve the telecommunications, travel and hotels, marine, utilities, healthcare, homebuilder, consumer electronics and financial services industries.

J.D. Power Asia Pacific is a unit of J.D. Power and Associates, one of the world’s premier global market strategy and business development organizations. Since 1990, it has provided clients in the automotive, information technology, finance, travel, and service industries with an understanding of the factors that influence perceptions of quality and customer satisfaction throughout the Asia Pacific region.

J.D. Power Asia Pacific - China
In 2005, J.D. Power established a representative office in Shanghai. In 2006, J.D. Power acquired Automotive Resources Asia (ARA), a wholly owned foreign enterprise that is now a fully integrated part of the business. The addition of that group’s widely respected and timely understanding of the emerging China and ASEAN automotive markets strongly complements J.D. Power’s services to clients in China and the Asia Pacific region. On January 1, 2008, J.D. Power became a wholly owned foreign enterprise headquartered in Shanghai, with a branch office in Beijing.
Although J.D. Power established its China office in 2005, the company’s involvement in China and research leadership there has a longer history. The landmark Initial Quality Study (IQS) and Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI) studies began in 2000 under the direction of the J.D. Power Singapore office. Since then, our China research has expanded in both breadth and depth. Today, we conduct five core syndicated studies in China – . CSI, SSI, IQS, APEAL and ESS – plus client-specific proprietary studies, consulting, and training. Power Circle Ratings, an easy-to-use system for consumers developed by J.D. Power and Associates for JDPower.com, launched in April 2008.
