All 2009 G37 sedans will be painted with Infiniti's innovative Scratch Shield paint. The technology actually employs a clearcoat that covers the color layer of paint. Compared to traditional automotive clearcoat, Scratch Shield is more scratch-resistant to help a vehicle retain its like-new appearance over time, the maker says. While normal clearcoats tend to accumulate small nicks and scratches in their surface as the vehicle ages-giving the paint a worn or hazed look-the Scratch Shield paint will self-repair light damage to restore the paint to like-new condition in about a week.
