Introduction
Not sold in the U.S. since 1971, the Crown is a full-size luxury sedan sold in Japan. The 12th-generation model went on sale in 2003. Prior to this week's Tokyo Motor Show, Toyota said this new-generation Crown would be "the most comfortable luxury passenger car" in Japan. It measures 4.87 meters long, 1.795 meters wide and 1.47 meters high, and seats five.

Hardware
The rear-wheel-drive Crown combines a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with Toyota's THS II hybrid system, with an improved motor-speed reduction device. The result, according to Toyota, is smoother acceleration, improved fuel economy, lower carbon emissions, and a quieter ride. The VDIM system improves vehicle stability, and gives a better balance to the car's driving, steering and braking. On the inside, the still-conservative Crown adds a Finegraphic Meter, which offers a brighter look to the gauges. The car now features 10 air bags, in addition to its other safety features.
