2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe Preview
Mercedes-Benz launches a high-performance, two-door variant that competes directly with BMW's M3 Coupe and Audi's S5. Under the hood of the all-new C63 AMG Coupe is a 6.3-liter V-8, mated to a 7-speed automatic. The engine is rated at 451 horsepower with 443 lb.-ft. of torque.

The Mercedes-Benz C-Class was first introduced in 1993 as a replacement to the discontinued 190 range. Designed to compete against its European rivals, including the BMW 3 Series and Audi A4 Series, the German automaker has offered its compact C-Class in sedan, coupe, and wagon body styles over the years. but the coupe has been absent from the lineup for some time.
Mercedes-Benz announced in early 2011 that its two-door C-Class coupe would return for 2012. Just a short while later, the automaker announced a two-door high-performance C63 AMG model - the first C-Class coupe to receive the AMG upgrades - would follow on its heels.
For the first time ever, an all-new rear-wheel drive 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe will provide direct competition to the eight-cylinder, rear-wheel drive BMW M3 coupe and the eight-cylinder all-wheel drive Audi S5 coupe. Like its competitors, the new C63 AMG Coupe is a four-passenger model (standard C-Class models offer five-passenger accommodations).
