Dodge is a division of Chrysler Group LLC. The brand can be traced back to 1900, when the Dodge Brothers Company began to supply parts for a growing auto industry in Detroit, Michigan. More than a decade after it started, the company began to build its own automobiles. Finally, in 1928, Dodge was bought by the Chrysler Corporation.
After the Second World War, Dodge began to focus on performance, and the company's product line was led my muscle cars such as the Challenger, Charger, Coronet and Super Bee. The automaker also built models to compete in the economy car market, with a relationship with Mitsubishi Motors that began in the 1970s. Dodge's big turnaround occurred in the 1980s, when the company developed the Dodge Caravan-the minivan that is credited with introducing an entirely new segment.
Today, Dodge manufactures a variety of passenger automobiles, pickups and sport utility vehicles. These include coupes, sedans, and SUVs with up-to-8-passenger seating capacities. Models include those with front-, rear- and all-wheel drive. Dodge vehicles are manufactured in North America and sold around the world.
