Introduction

The HondaCivic is a compact car offered in hatchback, sedan and coupe body styles. Introduced more than four decades ago, the original Civic model was available with just a52-horsepower engine. (This was plenty sufficient as the vehicle was much smaller than today's model.)

The automaker has announced an all new, ninth-generation Honda Civic model for 2012. According to Honda, the new platform will provide, "a balance of 'just-right' packaging, fun-to-drive character and outstanding fuel economy, at a price that even first-time buyers can afford."

While the all-new sedan and coupe have only been shown in concept format the 2011 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Honda typically shows models in a form that is very close to being ready for production.
