2014 Subaru Forester Earns "Top Safety Pick" Rating

In redesigning the 2014 Forester, Subaru built the new compact crossover SUV around what the automaker calls a Ring-Shaped Reinforcement Frame, one designed to deflect crash energy away from the occupant compartment. The new SUV is also equipped with a new driver knee air bag, front-seat head restraints designed to reduce the likelihood of whiplash, and a brake override system that prevents the Forester from accelerating when the brake pedal is pressed.
In addition to these safety-related upgrades, every 2014 Forester except for the base 2.5i is equipped with a reversing camera, and models with the Touring trim level can be optioned with Subaru's EyeSight driver assistance technology, which includes a lane-departure warning system, pre-collision braking system, and an adaptive cruise control system.
