Ram Trucks Take Home Top Honors at Texas Truck Rodeo
Last weekend, some 50 auto journalists in the state held the Texas Truck Rodeo and determined that the 2013 Ram 1500 was "Truck of Texas" and honored the 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee as the "SUV of Texas," and the 2013 Jeep Wrangler as the "Mid-Size SUV" of the year. Ram also received an award as the best "Truck Line of Texas." Texas is Ram's largest market, according to a Chrysler Group official. Awards were based on an evaluation of a vehicle's on- and off-road capability along with utility, value and fuel efficiency. Exterior styling also was a consideration in the competition.
Although Chrysler Group's Ram and Jeep brands received many of the top awards in a field of more than 60 pickups, SUVs and crossovers (CUVs), there were other stars. The 2013 Buick Enclave was selected as the "Crossover Utility Vehicle of Texas." Award recipients also included the 2013 Ford Escape, 2013 Ford Explorer Sport, 2013 GMC Terrain, 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, 2013 Toyota Tacoma, 2013 Ford F-250 pickup, and the 2013 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor off-road truck.
