2013 Volvo XC60 Meets "Top Safety Pick Plus" Criteria

Volvo is a brand that has long been aligned with safety, and the XC60 crossover SUV is a model popular with upper middle-class families. It is good news to both Volvo and families, then, that the 2013 XC60 is named a "Top Safety Pick Plus" by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), an accolade earned following the Volvo's "Good" performance in the new small overlap frontal-impact crash test, which is designed to measure how well a vehicle protects occupants in the event of a hard collision with crash forces centered on the front left corner of the vehicle.

Volvo has put the XC60 on a plan of continuous improvement since its debut for the 2010 model year, and a substantial update for the crossover SUV is coming for 2014. In the meantime, the 2013 XC60 gains standard rain-sensing wipers and a new tunnel-detection technology for the headlights, while the Premier Plus models have active bi-xenon headlights. The optional Technology package is equipped with Active High Beam lighting for improved visibility at night.
