Updated Disney World Test Track Ride Will Immerse Guests in GM Design Process

In creating the updated Test Track ride, Disney and GM focused on three guiding principles: make it personal to each guest, make it future-focused, and make it optimistic. "The re-imagined Test Track portrays an optimistic view of the future," said Eric Jacobson, senior vice president, Walt Disney Imagineering. "It's a thrilling attraction supported by rich exhibit displays and interactive elements that bring guests directly into the design process--with a few surprises thrown in."
The revamped Test Track ride will offer Disney World guests a three-part experience. First, visitors will have the opportunity to design their own car, truck or crossover SUV, with Chevrolet designers providing hints about "how to balance capability, efficiency, responsiveness, and power."
After designing their own vehicle, guests will be able to test their design on the Test Track ride, traveling over "surfaces that simulate the actual vehicle validation process that Chevrolet engineers use to ensure every new vehicle meets the highest performance standards." Each vehicle design will be evaluated and scored following the test ride.
Next, using a "digital driving table," guests will be able to race their vehicle design, pose for photos in front of their vehicle, and even produce a TV commercial with their design and share it via social networks.
Disney World will open the new Epcot Center Test Track ride on December 6, 2012.
