2014 Mazda CX-5 Updated with New Engine Option, Safety Feature
Additionally, the 2014 CX-5 will offer Mazda's new Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) technology. Planned as an option for the Touring and Grand Touring trim levels, SCBS operates at speeds under 20 mph and is designed to prevent slow-speed collisions. With SCBS, a laser sensor can identify when the CX-5 might collide with an object ahead, and the system prepares the braking system to provide quick response when the driver touches the brake pedal. If the driver fails to respond, SCBS can activate the brakes automatically in an effort to prevent a collision.
The new 2.5-liter engine and the SCBS system debut on the redesigned 2014 Mazda 6, which goes on sale in January 2013.
