Nissan Resonance Concept Resonates with Designers
Nissan has confirmed that it will build a next-generation Murano, and that the vehicle will be assembled in Mississippi rather than in Japan. The Resonance Concept, created by Nissan Design America in San Diego, conveys "dynamic fluidity and pure edginess" according to the automaker. Boomerang-shaped headlights and taillights, a V-shaped grille, floating roof design with a glass roof panel, and Dynamic Flow 22-inch wheels are key elements of the Resonance Concept's design.
Inside, the Resonance Concept's "futuristic VIP lounge" design theme, as the automaker calls it, blends leather, wood, premium sequential lighting, and layered holographic displays. A cloud-based telematics system is also featured.
The Resonance Concept's drivetrain is more likely for production than most of the design elements. Few details are offered, but the Resonance is equipped with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, electric motor, quick-charge Lithium-ion battery, continuously variable transmission, and all-wheel drive. Nissan refers to this drivetrain as a "one motor/two clutch" hybrid system because it employs a dual-clutch design that allows the gasoline engine to be uncoupled from the electric powertrain components for when pure electric vehicle operation is desirable.
