2013 Dodge Charger Sport Package Offered for AWD Models
The new 2013 Charger AWD Sport includes a gloss-black grille, 19-inch polished aluminum wheels with gloss-black inserts, all-season performance tires, and a rear spoiler. Inside, cloth-wrapped sport seats are added, along with a Beats Audio premium sound system.
The new 2013 Charger AWD Sport package is similar to the Blacktop package offered on rear-drive Chargers, and which now accounts for 25% of Charger SXT sales, according to Dodge. "With the instant success of the sinister-styled Charger Blacktop, the new Charger AWD Sport delivers a similar aggressive look with the added capability of all-wheel drive," said Reid Bigland, president and CEO--Dodge Brand.
When added to the Charger SXT AWD, the 3.6-liter V-6 engine is equipped with a cold-air induction kit and a sport exhaust system to generate 300 horsepower. The all-wheel-drive system includes an active transfer case and front-axle-disconnect system, the latter feature designed to improve gas mileage. According to Dodge, the Charger AWD Sport model's fuel-economy ratings are 18 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.
An 8-speed automatic transmission with a Sport mode and die-cast paddle shifters mounted to the steering wheel is included with the V-6, marking the first time paddle shifters have been offered in an all-wheel-drive Charger.
The Charger R/T AWD Sport models are equipped with a 5.7-liter "Hemi" V-8 engine generating 370 horsepower. The V-8 is equipped with a Fuel Saver Mode, which operates on 4 of 8 cylinders under low-load driving conditions. A 5-speed automatic transmission delivers the power to all 4 wheels.
With the AWD Sport package included, prices range from $33,685 for the Charger SXT Plus AWD Sport to $36,685 for the Charger R/T Plus AWD Sport. Dodge plans to build the new Charger AWD Sport for a limited time, between December of 2012 and February of 2013.
