Swedish car brand Volvo, owned by China’s Geely Group since 2010, continues renewing its lineup of cars, wagons, and SUVs in 2016 with two new models. The flagship 2017 S90 midsize premium sedan will replace the S80 and debuts this year. The new 2016 XC90 midsize premium SUV already is in showrooms. Both share Volvo’s new scalable product architecture (SPA) and advanced driving and safety technologies.
Enhancements for other 2016 Volvo models include design updates for the S60 and XC60. Additionally, Volvo is focusing on its new family of fuel-efficient Drive-E turbocharged engines and has made connectivity standard. Navigation is standard for all Premier and higher trim levels. Seven new wheel treatments are available for many models.
Volvo is on an upswing, and has broken ground on a new factory in Charleston, SC, that will begin building vehicles in 2018.
