The Volkswagen Eos is a compact convertible that was first introduced in 2006. The Eos-featuring a power-operated, five-piece folding roof with integrated power sunroof-is based on Volkswagen's Golf platform. The company considers it a replacement to the Volkswagen Cabriolet, a model that has been discontinued. Still in its first generation, the Eos receives upgraded wheels in base trim and more standard equipment. The six-speed manual transmission has been dropped.

The Eos is sold in three trim levels: Komfort, Lux, and Executive. Standard models are equipped with V-Tex leatherette seating surfaces, air conditioning with dual-zone climate control, leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control, Bluetooth phone connectivity, and more. Lux models are upgraded with leather upholstery, navigation system, self-dimming rearview mirror, automatic headlights, power-operated and folding exterior mirrors, body colored molding, park distance control, and more. Executive models, designed for a sporty ride, feature sport suspension upgrades, an upgraded navigation system, a Dynaudio premium audio system, and other improvements.

The Volkswagen Eos is offered with one engine: a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that is rated at 200 horsepower. A six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, sending power to the front wheels, is standard. The EPA rates the fuel economy of the 2011 Volkswagen Eos between 21 mpg city and 31 mpg highway, depending on powertrain.

The 2011 Volkswagen Eos Komfort starts with a base price of about $34,500 and tops out with the Eos Executive, which starts around $39,500.
