Toyota brings in three models from the defunct Scion brand, renaming them in the process. The company also starts adding its Toyota Safety Sense collision-avoidance systems as standard equipment for several models, introduces a new powertrain for its Sienna minivan, and debuts a new plug-in hybrid version of the Prius called the Prime. The freshened Corolla celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
Toyota gives the popular Highlander SUV a thorough update for the 2017 model year, adding safety equipment, expanding the lineup, installing a new drivetrain, and more. The new 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro debuts, too, an off-road-ready version inspired by Toyota’s successful desert racing trucks. Other changes are relatively minor. Officially, the Tundra is now the oldest full-size pickup truck design on the market.
