The 2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser is a midsize SUV available in a single trim, which is divided into three distinct versions based on powertrain configuration. The base, or 4X2 AT, is fitted with rear-wheel drive (2WD) and automatic transmission. The 4X4 MT has 4-wheel drive (4WD) with manual transmission, while the 4X4 AT has 4WD and automatic transmission. All versions feature 17-inch wheels as standard equipment.

Interior Features
The interior of the Toyota FJ Cruiser includes air conditioning, power windows and locks, cloth upholstery, manually adjustable seats and steering wheel, vinyl flooring, Bluetooth connectivity, and a 6-speaker sound system. With the rear seats folded down, cargo capacity is 67 cubic feet.

Optional Features
Lighter alloy wheels are optional on the 2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser, as is an electronically controlled locking rear differential (standard on the 4X4 AT version). The dealer may install an upgraded roof rack with rails, cargo cover, extra driving lights, and a passenger armrest. The Off-Road package offers upgraded shocks, traction control, and gauges, while the TRD package adds 16-inch alloy wheels, off-road tires, and special Bilstein shocks. The Convenience package offers more power accessories, cruise control, and a rearview camera. The Upgrade package includes lighter 17-inch alloy wheels, leather-wrapped steering wheel, premium sound system, and features from the Off-Road package. The lighter wheels are available as a stand-alone option.

Under the Hood
The 2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser's standard power plant is a 4.0-liter V-6 engine rated at 260 horsepower. \"AT\" versions of the FJ Cruiser come with a 5-speed automatic transmission, while the \"MT\" comes with a 6-speed manual.

EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Toyota FJ Cruiser are:
