The Suzuki Grand Vitara has been offered under several names since its introduction for the 1988 model year. The Grand Vitara is a compact SUV geared for off-road performance. For the 2011 model year, its trim levels have been consolidated and upgraded, its navigation system has been enhanced, and Bluetooth connectivity is now available on all the higher trim levels.

The base 2011 Suzuki Grand Vitara features 16-inch wheels, cloth upholstery, automatic headlights, automatic climate control, some power accessories, and a 4-speaker sound system. The Premium trim adds cruise control, automatic transmission, an upgraded navigation system, and optional 18-inch wheels. The Limited features 18-inch alloy wheels as standard equipment, as well as leather upholstery, heated front seats, sunroof, keyless entry and ignition, 7-speaker sound system, and many other enhancements. With the rear seats folded down, the Grand Vitara features 69 cubic feet of cargo space, according to Suzuki.

The base power plant in the 2011 Suzuki Grand Vitara is a 166-horsepower, 2.4-liter, inline 4-cylinder engine. It delivers 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway with a 4-speed automatic transmission (which is standard with that engine on all but the base model, which employs a 5-speed manual transmission), according to the EPA. All Grand Vitara trims feature rear-wheel drive as standard, but 4-wheel drive (4WD) is optional with the Premium trim and a 4-mode 4WD system is offered with the Limited trim. The V-6 engine that was offered as an option in previous years is not available for 2011.

Standard safety features on the 2011 Suzuki Grand Vitara include anti-lock disc brakes, stability control, traction control, front side air bags, and side curtain air bags. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave the Grand Vitara highest-possible \"Good\" ratings in frontal-offset crash tests, and \"Acceptable\" for side-impact protection.

Starting MSRP for the 2011 Suzuki Grand Vitara is $18,999.
