Exterior Features
The 2012 Smart Fortwo is an ultra-compact 2-door, available in two body styles (coupe and cabriolet) and two trim lines--Pure and Passion. Fifteen-inch steel wheels are standard.

Interior Features
Smart Fortwo base Pure coupe models offer manual windows, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and keyless entry. While base models are wired for a stereo, a sound system does not come standard. The upgraded Passion coupe and cabriolet add an entry-level radio, power windows, steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and automatic climate control. The Fortwo provides 7.8 cubic feet of trunk space.

Optional Features
Smart offers several stand-alone options for the 2012 Fortwo and groups many options together in three different packages. The Cruise Control package includes a trip computer and 3-spoke leather sports steering wheel, while the Comfort package features heated leather seats and power steering. LED daytime running lights, distinct alloy wheels, and metallic paint are available in the Style package.  Individual add-ons include a surround-sound audio system, center console storage, power steering, and automatic climate control.

Under the Hood
All 2012 Smart Fortwos are fitted with a 1-liter 3-cylinder engine rated at 70 horsepower and mated to a 5-speed automated manual transmission. All Fortwos are rear-wheel drive.

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Smart Fortwo are 34/38/36 mpg (city/highway/combined).

Standard safety features on the Smart Fortwo include tridion safety cell technology, anti-lock brakes, and side and knee air bags.

To date, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has not conducted tests on the 2012 Smart Fortwo. In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Smart Fortwo received \"Good\" ratings--the Institute's highest--for frontal-offset crash protection and side-impact protection.
