After 13 years, Toyota Motor announced today that it will discontinue its Scion youth nameplate and fold existing models into the Toyota brand, beginning in August with 2017 model-year vehicles.
Toyota Motor’s Scion youth brand unveiled the C-HR compact crossover concept this week at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Initially imagined as a youth-oriented sub-brand for Toyota Motor Corp., Scion has instead drawn the relatively limited interest of buyers young and not-so-young with products ranging from the fairly sporty tC to the funky yet utilitarian xB.
For 2015, the familiar xB returns with a new rearview camera, the tC coupe now offers paddle shifters and a bright orange/black limited-edition variant, and the tiny iQ carries over unchanged. The xD hatchback has been discontinued. Find out what's new for all of the 2015 Scion models...

It is no coincidence that Scion calls this coup_ the Hako, which is Japanese for "box.
Scion introduces its redesigned tC An all-new subcompact model, called the iQ, is just around the cornerHistoryScion, a Japanese brand, is a division of Toyota Motor Corporation. The brand was launched in 2002 as the automaker made changes to its product lineup in order to capture a larger share of younger buyers. Unlike the automaker's Toyota or Lexus brands, both marketed and sold through traditional methods, Scion took a different approach. Consumers were targeted through non-traditional marketing. In addition, each automotive model would have just one standard trim level (but there would be a long list of available accessories for customers to personalize their vehicles). Lastly, Scion models would be sold with a fixed price.

The car is unchanged for 2009; indeed, sales began in May with the only change being Stingray Metallic paint available instead of the former Nautical Blue Metallic color. The 2008 model year brought a new flair to the xB's boxy design, as well as the added punch from a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder engine with 158 hp, or a third more power than was available for the first-generation "xBox." The new engine provides 22 mpg city/28 mpg highway mileage ratings.
