The commercial van business is a lucrative profit center for car companies. For decades, Ford Motor Company and General Motors virtually owned it, especially after Dodge quit building one. Nissan wanted a piece of the action, and debuted the full-size NV for the 2012 model year. Based on a modified version of the first-generation Nissan Titan pickup truck platform and equipped with a choice between a thirsty V-6 and a thirstier V-8 engine, the NV’s protruding nose reveals its shared lineage. Cargo and passenger versions are available with various payload rating and roof-height options.
