Nissan Maxima Pricing & Reviews

Select a Model Year:

Long billed by Nissan as the “4-Door Sports Car,” or “4DSC,” the Maxima does have 4 doors and is the most sporting sedan in the automaker’s lineup. But is it a sports car? No. The Maxima debuted for the 1981 model year, a Datsun-badged, rear-drive replacement for the 810 equipped with a straight 6-cylinder engine. In terms of setting styling and performance standards, however, it was the 1989 Maxima that put the “4DSC” on the map, despite its front-drive configuration. Today, the wildly styled Maxima shares a platform with the Nissan Altima, providing better performance and a more upscale interior than the company’s midsize family sedan.
