History

2011 Mini CooperMini is a manufacturer of small passengercars. Originally launched in 1959, the British automaker is creditedwith introducing a very compact, front-wheel-drive 4-passenger vehiclethat became an iconic model for small cars. In more recent years, BMWrevived the brand in 2001 with the introduction of the new, 2002 MiniCooper.

Much larger than its predecessors, but still small in stature comparedto the other offerings on the market, models offered by Mini meet allcurrent safety standards and are considered sporty yet fuel efficient.Today, the lineup includes compact sedans, convertibles, wagons and anall-new compact sport utility vehicle. Mini automobiles are made in theUnited Kingdom and exported worldwide.

2011 Mini Hardtop

2010 Mini CooperThe first Mini Cooper hardtop arrived for the 2002 model year. Unlikeother subcompacts on the market, the new Cooper offered retro stylingand fun-to-drive handling to accompany its fuel-efficient, 4-cylinderengine choices. While the early cars were fitted with 5-speed manual orcontinuously variable transmissions, later models received upgraded6-speed manual or conventional automatics starting in 2005.

In 2007 the second-generation(Mk II) models debuted. The car had grown in length by 2.4 inches,but it still retained nearly all of the traditional Minicharacteristics. In addition to a planned mild exterior refresh, the2011 models will reportedly receive BMW's "Valvetronic"variable valve lift system to improve power and efficiency.

2011 Mini Convertible

2010 Mini Cooper Following on the heels of the Mini Cooper Hardtop, the automakerlaunched the 4-passenger Mini Cooper Convertible in 2005. Mirroring thepowerplant and driveline of the hardtop, the convertible models boasteda new power-operated "3-in-1" soft top with a unique automatic sunroofand a heated glass rear window. The convertible top folds down behindthe second row of seating (behind the integrated roll hoops) tuckingitself mostly out of view. The second-generation (Mk II) model, basedon the new platform, was launched in 2009. Like its hardtop siblings,the 2011 models will reportedly receive a mild facelift andBMW's "Valvetronic" variable valve lift system to improve engine powerand efficiency.

2011 Mini Clubman

2010 Mini Cooper In 2008, Mini introduced the Clubman. While nearly identical to theMini Hardtop from the driver's seat forward, the Clubman features anadditional 9.4 inches of overall length (with a 3.1-inch stretch inwheelbase) and a third door on the passenger side to aid entry/exit andincrease rear passenger leg room. The rear hatch has been replaced by"split rear barn doors" (just like the original). Like coupe andconvertible, both models are reportedly fitted with updatedengines for 2011.

2011 Mini Countryman

2010 Mini Countryman
The Mini Countryman is not only an all-new model for 2011, but it represents the first time Mini has offered a crossover vehicle. While it is the largest model in the Mini lineup, it is still compact in stature compared with many of its competitors (it is about the same size as a Volkswagen Golf). In support of its utilitarian role, the new Mini features four conventional doors, a rear liftgate, and flat-folding second-row seating. The Countryman features the same engine choices as its siblings, but offers all-wheel drive, in addition to the standard front-wheel-drive powertrain.
