Exterior Features
The 2012 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class is a compact luxury SUV that is offered in a single trim, the GLK350. The GLK-Class, which shares platform components with the Mercedes-Benz C-Class Sedan, is available in either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, the latter of which is the 4Matic. Standard exterior features include 19-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, automatic headlights and wipers, and front and rear fog lights.

Interior Features
Base interior features of the Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class include vinyl upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, and power accessories with an 8-way power driver's seat, Bluetooth connectivity, proprietary communications system, and a 6-speaker sound system. Maximum cargo volume is 54.7 cubic feet.

Optional Features
Many packaged and stand-alone options are available on the Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class. The Premium 1 package includes a power liftgate, panoramic sunroof, additional power adjustments to the seats and steering wheel, satellite radio, rear parking sensors, auto-dimming mirrors, and more. Some components of the Premium 1 package are available as individual options. Other packages add bi-Xenon headlights, full leather upholstery in a variety of colors, navigation system, rearview camera, and upgraded entertainment system. The AMG Styling package includes exclusive styling and 20-inch wheels. An emergency telematics system is available as a stand-alone option, as are a trailer hitch, keyless ignition and entry, heated front seats, premium surround-sound system, and running boards.

Under the Hood
The standard power plant in the 2012 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class is a 3.5-liter V-6 engine rated at 268 horsepower. A 7-speed automatic transmission is standard. As mentioned previously, the GLK-Class is available with rear-wheel or all-wheel drive (RWD or AWD).

Fuel Economy
EPA fuel-economy figures for the 2012 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class are:
- GLK350 with RWD: 16/22/18 mpg (city/highway/combined)
- GLK350 with AWD: 16/21/18 mpg

Safety
Standard safety features on the Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class include anti-lock disc brakes with brake drying and brake assist, active front head restraints, front-seat side air bags, driver knee air bags, front pelvic air bags, and side curtain air bags. Other safety features are optional.

To date, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not tested the 2012 Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class. In tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the GLK-Class received \"Good\" ratings--the Institute's highest--for frontal-offset and side-impact crash protection and roof strength.
