Arriving for the 2003 model year, the Mazda 6 replaced the 626 in the company’s U.S. lineup. Uniquely, Mazda offered the car as a 5-door hatchback, 4-door sedan, and a station wagon. This approach, however, failed to interest consumers, and when the Mazda 6 was redesigned as a much larger car for the 2009 model year, it came only as a sedan. For 2014, the Mazda 6 received another redesign, wrapped in attractive styling and offered with upscale details and amenities. Available only as a sedan with an efficient 4-cylinder engine, the Mazda 6 enjoys a small but faithful following.
